Cherry Cream Pie

Ingredients

1 pkg vanilla pudding mix, not instant
1/4 cup sugar
1 beaten egg yolk
2 3/4 cups evaporated milk
3/4 cup water
1 1/2 tsp vanilla
1 can pitted cherries, well-drained

Instructions

Mix all but cherries in a heavy saucepan. Bring to boil. Cook, stirring continually, 30 seconds. Remove from heat. Fold in cherries and spread in baked pie shell. Let cool completely. Top with whipped cream or meringue.
